Managers have to decide what is the best species to use in a forest plantation. This has never been an easy task, and climate change is making it even harder. Current CO2 mitigation efforts accountability is very reliant to what to plant where. However, until now, these details are not adequately considered in national mitigation accountability plan.
The project ECO2FOR aimed to improve the carbon accountability schema has been granted by the competitive call from the Biodiversidad Foundation for the promotion of the forest bioeconomy 2023. The project led by CESEFOR Foundation brings together researchers from (INIA-CSIC, CETEMAS, USAL, Foro Bosques y Cambio Climático, USAL and UVa).
UVa team is formed by three Cambium group members (Vicente Rozas, José Miguel Olano, and Elena Moreno-Amat) and will led the creation of suitability models on current and future climate scenarios.
