Cambium Research Group has organized the course entitled “Process-based forest modelling using the medfate and medfateland R packages”, that is held in Soria (19-21 Nov, 2024). This three-day course, taught by Miquel De Cáceres (EMF-CREAF) and Rodrigo Balaguer-Romano (CREAF) was coordinated by Cambium researchers Francisco Mauro and David Candel-Pérez.

The course is aimed to provide with the basis knowledge to understand the formulation and parameterization of biophysical, physiological and ecological processes in the models that enable medfate and medfateland R packages to calculate forest water and carbon balances as well as forest dynamics. In addition, the participants learnt how to prepare model inputs, perform simulations of forest function and dynamics at scales ranging from stand to regional.
25 scientists from 9 different provinces are attending to this course, remarking the great interest of the forest science community in medfate and medfateland ability to model forest function.
