Miguel García Hidalgo, PhD candidate, has been awarded with the first prize of the Cátedra Conocimiento e Investigación de Caja Rural de Soria at the Duques de Soria Campus (University of Valladolid). His proposal, that competed with 35, was aimed to implement an AI framework to help in the laborious and time-consuming procedure of measuring tree-ring widths in dendrochronological core samples. «Research, whether basic or more applied, aims to improve people’s lives, so the award also conveys the message that research in the natural environment is relevant to our society», Miguel said when interviewed by the media.
