A warmer climate compromises forests’ ability to sustain biodiversity and provide basic ecosystem services. We must modify current forest management practices to face this challenge. Soria Forest Adapt project aims to redefine forest management plans in Soria province to promote an adaptive silviculture. This involves actions like managing tree density to deal with drought, dealing with increased fire risks, promoting mixed stands, adjusting species distribution to novel climatic conditions, managing dead wood… The project is led by Fundación Global Nature, with the collaboration of Fundación Cesefor, University of Valladolid, PEFC, FSC and Fundación Privada Empresa y Clima.
